My feature out in this week’s Waitrose Weekend is about the lovely Kate Humble’s new book, ‘Thinking on my feet’ [Aster, £20]. Of all the interviews I have done of late, this one has stayed with me the longest. Kate’s book – a diary of her walking year – helps uncover how the simple act of walking can help us stay happy.
Wherever she visits, Kate straps on a pair of comfy shoes and heads out for a walk or run, often early in the morning. Her descriptions of the world around us are enough to make anyone think they’re missing out on something if they don’t go for a daily walk.
It can be a bit tricky with a toddler in tow, but I’m determined to go exploring more this autumn and winter. My little boy and I started with a walk around Box Hill in Surrey earlier this month and we’re going to visit more spots near where we live over the coming weeks.
